Health Information:

The main motto of Bidhannagar Municipality - transparency in administration and taking initiatives for public welfare. Public health is one of the basic civil rights along with food, clothing and shelter. Already in the last few years with the aid of CMDA and international organizations, our health workers have been working among the people below poverty level through Indian Population Project - 8for general health awareness, different aspects of maternity, child safety and immunity to diseases. The outcome is encouraging.

Now we aim at the overall population of Bidhannagar. With the aid of Government o West Bengal, IPP-8 and metropolitan development authority, a maternity home have been constructed at 55A EE Block which is a self sufficient treatment centre or hospital. This 2 bed maternity home is dedicated to public health. There are 5 gynecologists, 3 residential doctors, 3 nurses and 4 attendants. This hospital has been serving people for all gynecological needs for normal child birth, caesarian and hysterectomy under clean and pollution free atmosphere. The maternity home doesn't limit its services to m other and child only. It has got an outdoor section too. From Monday to Saturday, from 2 Pm to 6 Pm, patients are attended by by specialist doctors from the fields of ophthalmology, dentistry, ENT, pediatrics, cardiology and gynecology for a fee of Rs. 30 only. For beneficiaries, the fee is Rs. 5 only and some essential medicines comes free for them. There is a pathology department where various tests are done.

Every Wednesday, vaccination programmes for Polio, DTP, TT, BCG are run. Ambulance service is available at a reduced cost. The service can be availed through personal contact or telephone number 2357 5899.

Very soon a lift will be operational and a polyclinic will be launched in the fourth floor here famous doctors from Kolkata will visit patients. The pathology department will be modernized along with the introduction of a biochemistry section. Quite a few new doctors will join the centre soon.

A course on sexual education for safe maternity is regularly run here. Young women aging from 10 to 9 are trained here from the combined area by eminent gynecologists. Till date 1000 such girls have received the training in 4 such courses. Seven sub centers have been built to make health services available for people below poverty level in the adjacent areas.
